BST Sensors
With the BST sensors you have the right scanning system for every material and every field of application.
The use of ultrasound, infrared and digital sensors like CCD cameras provides the highest flexibility.
The sensors are the eyes of our web guiding system.
Just as the human eye is contin-
uously obtaining information and passing it on to the brain, sensors continuously register the position of the web of material and transmit the relevant signals to the commander. Of course, while this is being done there can be no contact with the web, because otherwise this would lead to damage to the web edge or surface.
The non-contact scanning is done with sensors which, for instance, can “see” using infrared light, ultrasonics or a light-sensitive CCD chip. The types are completed by line and reflection sensors for the scanning of lines and contrast edges.
Which sensor is used in which specific case depends on the material used, the area of application and the environ-
mental conditions.
